Trying to find a new host for a new blog

Old Yesterday, 08:01 PM Wink Hello all. I've been lurking for a while, but finally made an account to ask a few questions. I am trying to start a new photography blog, and need help finding a host. I have verified with Flickr that I can hot link the pictures from my premium Flickr account. So my space needs are small. Money isn't an issue, but I also don't want to overpay for a small site barely getting any traffic. I do have a few requirements though.

1. I prefer a host that is in the U.S.
2. I need a host that will install word press for me, I have no clue how to.
3. I do not want an unlimited host. My needs are small, so I feel it is safer to not "eat at the $10 buffet if I'm only hungry enough for a $1 mcchicken". (-:

Any suggestiions/help would be amazing, thank you.

Old Yesterday, 08:03 PM Most shared hosts can meet all of those needs. I'd suggest browsing the offers area for a bit and see if you find anything. You should be able to find something of quality for a range of about $4-$8 a month. Also, I'd suggest sending a pre-sales email asking if the host you chose would be ok with installing a blog for you. Most hosts won't have a problem doing that, but it's best to make 100% sure beforehand.

Reply With Quote Old Yesterday, 08:56 PM Hi and welcome to wht.

Most hosts have a script installer,(fantastico, softaculous etc) which installs wordpress with 1-2 clicks. If you are completely unsure of how to do this then could ask your host, most small hosts "sell" exactly the personal touch,so I am sure you will find something

Best of luck.

Reply With Quote Old Yesterday, 09:18 PM You forgot to mention good support. From my experience the most important factor in choosing best host for you is the one has premium support.

When you've any issue at any time (I mean any time), you should get premium support.

So I recommend reading carefully, especially the customer complaints before choosing the suitable hosting company.

Nearly every host has an automated installer for WordPress, so it is really easy to get WordPress installed and running.
Reply With Quote Old Yesterday, 10:07 PM I will be recommending you use the offer section of this site.

Also with VALENTINE around the corner, a lot of hosts are offering huge discounts.

Reply With Quote Old Yesterday, 11:11 PM Your needs are very simple. You will find number of hosts with cpanel and Softaculous who can satisfy your needs. In fact WP installation is so simple that it can be completed in few seconds from server side itself once you create a DB User and DB. You can go to offer sections to find a host under your budget.

Take a look in the shared hosting offers forum for some deals and make sure to check the reviews for any company you are considering. It will save you a lot of headache in the end.

Good luck!

Reply With Quote Old Today, 01:09 AM While your needs are very basic, I suggest you go for a smaller host who sells the personal touch, because if you can't install Wordpress, I don't think you will be able to install themes etc to showcase your portfolio either. I suggest you ask the provider you short-list whether they are ready to help you in all these aspects.
Reply With Quote Old Today, 01:48 AM My standard suggestion for such a small request is Stablehost. They're newbie friendly and know WordPress. They helped one of my friends setup a small photo site. He used the Softaculous installer, and had a few questions (I was unavailable at the time). Any number of decent, low-cost, small-resource package hosts would work here. WHT has several good personal-touch type of hosts.
Reply With Quote Old Today, 05:03 AM Look at Shared Hosting Offers section, should be plenty.
Reply With Quote Old Today, 05:31 AM Most of the hosts have fantastico or softaculous, so you can easily install wordpress. As others already suggested check the ads section...there are many offers for you
