Annoyed!!

Old Yesterday, 08:38 PM Hey guys, I am seriously annoyed at the moment......I signed up for go daddy.com and bought my domain, installed the wordpress app, everything was going grand! I simply wanted a website that had an image of my name that I made in photoshop and a brief summary of what the website was about (maybe 3 lines) and a menu with Home, About, C.V and portfolio!!

Instead, I installed a theme and all that and then when I erased it like I was told, i erased the whole folder, so nothing shows up on the page now, I don't want to blog or any of that, I just want a simple little website! It is beyond the point of frustrating at this point! Please point me in the right direction!

Old Yesterday, 08:53 PM You need someone to make you a website.I think that's the right direction. Check the offers section for companies/individuals that do that,or if you have time and want experiment there are many free/low cost templates out there that will do the trick.

Best of luck

Martin

Reply With Quote Old Yesterday, 08:55 PM I've never really had any luck with godaddy hosting, but it should be as easy as uploading an index.html file into your root public directory if you're coding the site outside of godaddy. Are you doing that, or using their site builder?

Reply With Quote Old Yesterday, 09:02 PM Ok, I just relaxed and look at it again! I think that is the best bet, I just didn't do enough research regarding wordpress, I was just pointed in that direction from the start. I know how to do html, simple html that is, and that is all i really want, so I am going to go down that route. Thanks folks, I also got the theme to work on my page and it seems to be working better now, but my friend in college was doing wordpress earlier and on his dashboard, under the appearance tab, there was anther tab that said "Header" he could input pictures and everything, I couldn't do that? dunno why?
Reply With Quote Old Yesterday, 09:28 PM Wordpress can be a little scary of it's your first time and your teaching yourself.

Just ask questions and google is your friend.

One thing that will make your experience better is changing your host to something better than GoDaddy...very slow. You can leave the domain name there and the new host will help you point the domain to your new host.

Reply With Quote Old Yesterday, 10:17 PM A wordpress theme would have been a better option, but given you can't go about it, simply get a template around the web. There are lots of free templates around.

TIPS:
You could have better handle your wordpress
- Install your theme
- Choose to Create New Pages, they will all appear on the top menu
- Then you can add personal content to it.

so much more....
