Google Apps Mail MX Records

Old Yesterday, 08:26 AM Quick question guys,

I am moving website's mail services to google apps from smartermail after moving the site from shared hosting to database mart's basic VPS hosting which I cannot rate highly enough. I have changed the nameservers on my domain registrar's control panel to point to my new server and the website is working fine. However, do I need to change the MX records on my domain registrar site or on the new server control panel dns portal?

Thanks in advance!

Old Yesterday, 08:33 AM Hello jtmk,

In your case that should be done in your new hosting providers control panel, since you pointed your name servers at it.

It really depends on how DNS is setup at each point along the path.

I generally do it at the host side.

Google MX [1], aspmx.l.google.com
Google MX [5], alt1.aspmx.l.google.com
Google MX [5], alt2.aspmx.l.google.com
Google MX [10], aspmx2.googlemail.com
Google MX [10], aspmx3.googlemail.com

I couldn't find any information on changing the following A record:

mail A *************

Any ideas?

you need to change CNAME record ,not A
mail ghs.google.com

this will open google apps mail with mail.yourdomain.com

+ Update this A record in your google Apps (if you changed the mail link )
