Note to WHT Moderators: I received an email from WHT, during 2011, that I do not need to Report a domain, unless I change providers. However, if you want me to Report a domain, again, I will be very happy to do so.
The welcome email I received from OLM.NET for my first account with them was dated 19 December 2001.
I have two (2) accounts for Shared Hosting with OLM.NET. That goes back to the days when I was on Ensim Shared servers and each of my two (2) domains had their own account. For the past two (2) years, I have been on cPanel Shared server. There are a total of seven (7) domains hosted, including 5 AddOn domains.
My belief is that the Support from OLM may be a little slow, however, I believe they work on things on a priority basis, which is how I want it done. Rarely, when I contact them, is there a mission critical problem. :-)
There were some glitches during 2011. I know, always, that the staff of OLM will get things running properly, ASAP.
One confirmation of this was the way the people in the two (2) OLM DCs, which are located in Southern Connecticut, handled Hurricane Irene, at the end of August 2011.
The server I am using is located in a DC that had damage from the Hurricane. Part of the air conditioning system was destroyed, which increased their need for more power from their diesel generator(s) and thus more consumption of diesel fuel.
One of my web sites made a sale, approximately 15 to 17 hours after that DC began running on emergency power. $17.50 for me. :-)
They did run out of fuel, because of their higher fuel consumption due to the air conditioning problem, and my web sites were down for approximately two (2) hours, because the fuel truck went to hospitals and other higher priority places, before they could get to the OLM DC.
The people who were working in the DC could not communicate with their families, because the landline phones and cell phones were down.
Many of those people had flooded basements in their homes and other problems.
I like the fact that OLM owns and operates their own DCs.
If and when I move from OLM.NET to another hosting provider, it will be to get a cPanel Reseller account, so that each of my domains is separated from the others, to eliminate some confusion and errors with the AddOn domains.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being "perfect", I would give OLM an 8. I would never rate any service or company a 10.
